Parenting Classes
This seven session class is for parents who are looking for long-term parenting skills that encourage their children to think for themselves, become more responsible and have a greater respect for themselves and others. The teachings of Positive Discipline are filled with non-punitive, respectful methods that will incorporate kindness and firmness into parenting, help parents get to the core of their child’s misbehavior, bring more joy into the home, and give parents and children a sense of accomplishment.

Title of Course: Positive Discipline for Teens
Description of Course: Adolescence is stressful - for parents and teens alike. Learn strategies to make this wonderful, challenging time a more positive experience for everyone. In this 7-week course, you will find out how to be kind and firm at the same time, understand your teen's behavior and how to provide an environment where your teen can develop courage and character.

Title of Course: 21 Tools to Help Create Self-Reliant Children
Description of Course: Power struggles create distance and hostility instead of closeness and trust. Distance and hostility create resentment, resistance, and rebellion (or compliance with reduced self-esteem). Closeness and trust create a safe learning environment. Adults need to remove themselves from the power struggle without winning or giving in. How?? Learn 21 Tools to teach children important life skills, rathen than "approval junkie" compliance or rebellion. CEUs available.

Title of Course: Positive Discipline for Parenting in Recovery
Description of Course: This course is offered in a series of 8 classes but is on-going throughout the year. This course is for people in recovery who have children and who want to break the unhealthy, discouraging patterns of relating to others that are created by chemical abuse. The course provides participants with an opportunity to explore the long range results of their discipline methods, a framework for better understanding the goals of misbehavior, and develop communication skills that foster mutual respect and dignity. The course is also appropriate for adult children of substance abusers, those living in relationships with a person who is abusing drug or alcohol, and for people in the helping professions.

Description of Course: Parenting with Positive Discipline is a seven session course which emphasizes long-term, solution focused parenting strategies designed to encourage the development of children's self discipline, cooperation, problem solving skills, as well as a greater respect for themselves and others. The teachings of Positive Discipline are filled with non-punitive, respectful methods that incorporate kindness and firmness into parenting; help parents get to the core of their child's behavior; bring more joy into the home; and give parents a sense of accomplishment. Positive Discipline the First Three Years is a seven session course designed to lay the foundation for raising a capable, confident child. Participants will learn about the cognitive, behavioral, social, and emotional development of their child during these critical years. The principles of Positive Discipline will guide parents in creating mutually respecrful relationships within which they can discipline (teach) young children in a kind, gentle, respectful manner, imparting valuable social and life skills.
