Application and Letter of Intent
The form below is for people who wish to be trained as a Certified Positive Discipline Associate. Please read the information carefully. It may help you decide whether or not you want to proceed with this process! If you have any questions or concerns, you are encouraged to contact the Positive Discipline Association (PDA) office.
DIRECTIONS:
- Please complete this form and accompanying letter. Keep a copy of each for your personal records.
- Email a copy to the Positive Discipline Association Administrative Office at posdis@satx.rr.com, along with permission for it to be used on our List serve. The letter is used to introduce you to other PDA members.
- Send a hard copy of the letter, a copy of the PDA Checklist, and your annual dues ($150 if paid prior to March 1 or $200 after March 1) to the Positive Discipline Association, c/o Marianne Pinner, 9417 Remuda Path, San Antonio, TX 78254. If you are applying to become a new PDAIT during the last quarter of the year (September 1 - December 31), you are eligible for a reduced fee of $120.

Positive Discipline Associate Letter of Intent
This letter should include the following information:
- Your purpose in wanting to be trained as a Certified Positive Discipline Associate.
- A list of any workshops or training you have already attended (with whom and when).
- Information on your plans for using Positive Discipline.
- Permission to share this information on our list serve. (Again, your letter is used to introduce you to our membership.)
- Anything else you would like to share!
What you will receive from Positive Discipline Association:
- Extensive training to increase your understanding of the Positive Discipline work and to facilitate two day workshops.
- Mentoring throughout your training period and on-going via the e-mail list serve, the CPDA manual, Think Tank, the workshop manuals, and personal contact with CPDAs or a local mentoring group if available.
- Once a year you, at "Think Tank, "the PDA's annual conference, you will have the opportunity to be surrounded by many enthusiastic Certified Positive Discipline Associates or PDAITS, for quality assurance and to share experiences and activities.
What is expected of you:
- To train as long as it is needed, according to you and your mentor.
- To sponsor at least one Positive Discipline workshop a year (with the help of your mentor) or actively share Positive Discipline (see page 1.3.5 of the CPDA Manual).
- Identify yourself as a PDAIT when presenting any Positive Discipline material.
- Work with the CPDA e-mail list and/or a CPDA mentor when preparing presentations.
- You must have evaluations filled out after every class or workshop you teach and send them to The Positive Discipline Association, c/o Marianne Pinner, 9417 Remuda Path, San Antonio, TX 78254.
- Attend our Think Tank (at your own expense) at least every other year.
- Pay annual (calendar year) PDA dues.
- Be familiar with Adlerian/Dreikursian and Positive Discipline theory and methods.
